Police officers in Mombasa Central Sub-County foiled an armed robbery at a business premises in Mwembe Tayari early Wednesday morning and arrested one suspect.

The officers, who were on foot patrol, responded swiftly to a distress call after three-armed men stormed the establishment.

How the Robbery Was Foiled

The suspects, posing as customers, entered the premises armed with machetes (pangas) and attempted to rob patrons and staff.

Alert police officers quickly subdued one of the robbers and recovered a sharp panga from him. The other two suspects managed to escape and are still at large.

The arrested suspect was taken to Mombasa Central Police Station where he is being held pending arraignment in court.

Investigations Ongoing

Police have launched a manhunt for the two fleeing suspects. Investigations into the incident are continuing.

The National Police Service praised the officers for their quick response, saying it demonstrates their commitment to fighting crime and enhancing public safety in the county.
