Four suspects arrested in Ukunda over British national murder and violent robberies

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested four suspects linked to the British national murder of Campbell Scott Alistair and a string of robbery with violence cases along the Kenyan coast.

The breakthrough arrests were made on Sunday during an intelligence-led operation at Ideal Apartments in Ukunda, Kwale County.

DCI officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CR&IB) headquarters teamed up with detectives from Nyali and Msambweni to apprehend the suspects.

The four men; Bernard Mbusu, Isaac Kinoti Kobia, Evans Muthengi Mutaki and Kelvin Mwangi Njoroge, are now in custody at Nyali Police Station.

Investigators say the suspects are connected to the abduction and murder of British national Campbell Scott Alistair in February 2025. His body was discovered in Mukuyuni along the Machakos–Wote road.

The same group has also been forensically linked to a violent robbery involving an American national in Nyali and another robbery incident in Watamu, Malindi Sub-County.

During the raid, detectives recovered several stolen items including an HP laptop, multiple mobile phones, assorted foreign currencies, credit cards, cheque books from various banks and PDQ machines.

Crime Scene Investigation officers processed the scene, and the suspects together with the exhibits remain in custody as investigations continue.
